General Duty Pilots (GDPs) are the most highly trained and skilled pilots in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). They are responsible for flying a wide range of aircraft, including fighter jets, bombers, and transport planes. GDP pilots play a vital role in the PAF’s air defense and strike capabilities. GDP pilots are selected through a rigorous process that includes academic testing, medical examinations, and interviews. The training program for GDP pilots is also very demanding, lasting for four years and covering a wide range of subjects, including aerodynamics, aviation science, aircraft systems, flight navigation, and air combat tactics. Upon successful completion of the training program, GDP pilots are commissioned as Flying Officers in the PAF. They are then assigned to different operational squadrons, where they fly a variety of aircraft. GDP pilots play a vital role in the PAF’s air defense and strike capabilities.

Eligibility Criteria:

Gender: Both candidates are eligible to apply.

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of Pakistan.

Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried.

Height: Candidates must be at least 5 feet 4 inches (163 cm) tall.

Vision: Candidates must have 6/6 vision in each eye without glasses.

Note:

  • A permanent commission is available for male applicants only, and a short service commission is available for female applicants.
  • After passing the test, cadets will undergo 2 years of training as a cadet and 2 years of training as a pilot officer at PAF Risalpur.
  • Upon completion of the training, cadets will be awarded a 4-year degree in Air Management BS Aviation Sciences and Management from AIR University ISL.

Ineligibility Conditions

  1. Candidates are not eligible if they have already been turned down twice by the Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB).
  2. Candidates who have been dismissed, removed, or debarred from any government service are ineligible.
  3. Candidates who have been tested within 120 days of their previous ISSB appearance are ineligible.
  4. Candidates who have been convicted of any heinous crime in a court of law are ineligible.
  5. Candidates who have been dismissed, removed, or debarred from the Armed Forces, Pakistan Army, Navy, or PAF are ineligible.
  6. Ineligible candidates are those who have been permanently disqualified by the Appeal Medical Board (AMB).
  7. Candidates who have withdrawn from any bonded Armed Forces college or from an Armed Forces institution on disciplinary grounds are ineligible.
  8. Candidates who have withdrawn, discharged, resigned, or purchased a commission from any Armed Forces officers academy or Armed Forces training institution on any ground are ineligible.

Qualifications:

  • To be eligible to apply for the PAF GD Pilot course, a candidate must have passed FSc (Part I & II) with at least 60% aggregate marks in any of the following:
  • FSc (Pre-Engineering)
  • FSc (Pre-Medical)
  • FSc (Computer Science)
  • FSc with Physics and any two subjects from Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Biology
  • A-Level with Physics and Mathematics
  • O-Level in five subjects, including Physics, Mathematics, and Biology

Online Registration:

Candidates can apply online for the General Duty Pilot (GDP) through the official website www.join.paf.pk.of the Pakistan air force by filling out an online application form. The test date and time will be emailed to candidates. Candidates must report on the date and time given for the preliminary tests with their computerized roll number slip. The test date cannot be changed. Candidates must also bring the documents and pay the prospectus fee on the day of the test. Candidates must have basic computer skills.

Selection Procedure:

Initial Tests: candidates must pass the following initial tests:

Test Pattern 

Intelligence Test:(Verbal Test+Non verbal) It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions and must be completed in 40 minutes(Passing Percentage:60%)

English Test: It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions and must be completed in 40 minutes.(Passing Percentage:60%)

Physics Test: It consists of 75 multiple-choice questions and must be completed in 35 minutes.(Passing Percentage:60%)

Further Procedure:

After passing the initial tests, candidates must appear for an initial medical examination at the recruitment and selection centers. Those who qualify for the medical examination will then appear for an initial interview to proceed to the next stage, the Inter-Services Selection Board (ISSB).

Documents Requirements:

  • Original matric mark sheets, ICS/FSc transcripts, or equivalent papers.
  • For everyone over the age of 18, a computerized national identity card (CNIC) is required.
  • For candidates under the age of 18, a computerized B-form with the Guardian’s CNIC (Mother or Father).
  • All of the above documents’ photocopies, with certification, in one set.
  • Principal, a Class-1 Gazetted Officer, attested (front and back) three passport-size colored pictures.
  • An original and one photocopy of the ISSB’s letter of not recommended for the repeated candidates.
