What is AFNS?

AFNS stands for Armed Forces Nursing Service. It is a nursing service that is exclusively available for women who aspire to join the nursing division of the Pakistan Army. Females who have completed their matriculation or intermediate (Fsc medical) can apply for AFNS.AFNS nurses play a vital role in the Pakistan Army,They also work in military hospitals and clinics, and in remote areas where access to healthcare is limited.AFNS nurses receive rigorous training in all aspects of nursing, and they are promoted through the ranks based on their experience and qualifications. They are also eligible for a number of benefits, including competitive salaries, housing allowances, and medical care.

If you are a woman who is interested in a career in nursing and serving your country, the AFNS may be a good option for you.

AFNS Eligibility Criteria:

Age:

To join AFNS Pakistan, you must be between the ages of 17 and 25 if you are untrained, or between the ages of 18 and 28 if you are a trained nurse.

Marital Status:

To join AFNS Pakistan, you must be unmarried, separated, widowed, or divorced without children. If you are a trained nurse, you can be either married or unmarried.

BS – Nursing Qualification: 

Matriculation with Science: 

You must have completed your matriculation (high school) with a minimum of 60% marks in the science subjects.

FSc Pre-Medical: 

For your intermediate education, you should have achieved a minimum of 50% marks in FSc Pre-Medical.

FSc Part-1:

If you’re in the process of completing your FSc Part-1 and have obtained at least 50% marks, you can also apply for AFNS by providing a hope certificate.

Trained AFNS Nursing Qualifications:

To join the AFNS, you must be a registered nurse with one of the following qualifications:

  • Practical Nursing Diploma and Midwifery
  • Bachelor of Science in Generic Nursing
  • A registered Nurse (RN) with a nursing-related bachelor’s degree

If you have completed post-basic specialized training courses, such as ICU, OT, and CCU, from a hospital or institute recognized by the PNC, you will be given priority.

Nationality: To join AFNS Pakistan, you must be a Pakistani citizen or a domicile holder of Gilgit Baltistan or Azad Kashmir. If you have dual nationality, you must renounce your non-Pakistani nationality.

Physical Standard:

Height:   Minimum 5′ (152.4 cm)

Weight:  According to Body Mass Index (BMI)    Calculate Your BMI

A measurement of body fat based on height and weight is called BMI. It is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by height in meters squared. A BMI of between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered healthy.If your BMI is outside of the healthy range, you may be advised to lose or gain weight before joining AFNS Pakistan.Please note that the AFNS website also states that candidates must be physically and mentally fit for military serviceARMED FORCES

Ineligibility Conditions

 Candidates are not eligible for BSc Nursing jobs in the army:

  • Candidates who have failed the army’s selection process twice
  • Candidates who have been deemed medically unfit for military service by the Appeal Medical Board
  • Candidates who have been discharged from the military for disciplinary, character, medical, or performance reasons
  • Candidates who have been dismissed or removed from any other government job

Online Registration:

Candidates can apply online for the AFNS through the official website www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk.of the Pakistan Army by filling out an online application form.

The test date and time will be emailed to candidates. Candidates must report on the date and time given for the preliminary tests with their computerized roll number slip. The test date cannot be changed. Candidates must also bring the documents  and pay the prospectus fee on the day of the test. Candidates must have basic computer skills.

Selection Procedure:

AFNS Initial Tests:

FNS nursing candidates must pass the following initial tests:

The AFNS Pakistan test consists of four parts:

  1. Verbal Test (84 questions, 30 minutes, 50% passing percentage)
  2. Non-Verbal Test (64 questions, 30 minutes, 50% passing percentage)
  3. Academic Test (50 questions, 25 minutes, 50% passing percentage)
  4. Personality Test (150 questions, 30 minutes, 50% passing percentage)

To pass the selection test, you must pass all four parts with a score of 50% or higher.

Initial Medical:

Initial medical testing will take place at Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs).

The purpose of the initial medical examination is to ensure that candidates are physically and mentally fit for military service. Candidates who do not pass the initial medical examination may be given an opportunity to undergo further testing or treatment. If a candidate is still unable to pass the medical examination, they may not be eligible to join the AFNS.

Interview:

After the medical examination, successful candidates will be invited to a final interview with the GHQ Selection Board in Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, or Quetta. Separate call-up letters will be sent for the interview.

Bond: Candidates must sign a bond to serve in the Pakistan Army for at least ten years after completing their BSc Nursing training.

Rank: Upon successful completion of training, you will be commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Pakistan Army.

Documents Requirement:

Candidates applying for AFNS must bring the following documents to the Army Selection and Recruitment Centers (ASRCs):

  • Original educational Certificates, along with two verified photocopies of each document
  • Domicile (Attested Copy)
  • NOC required for already serving in Government Sector
  • (x3) Passport size photos (Front/Back)
  • National Identity Card (NIC) (New)
  • A postal order for Rs. 100/- has been sent to the Director, General Personnel Administration (DGPA), General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi of the Pakistan Army.
